Author: Venus Lee
Venus Lee is a student from Hong Kong. She believes in developing a more comprehensive understanding of Medical and Healthcare studies. By joining this seminar, she learned and developed a deeper appreciation for the medical workers and industry. Through learning and analysing different perspectives from various medical cases, she obtained a brief grasp of the stress as well as pressure that is evident when being in the emergency medical field.
In my perusal of Dr. Holden’s timeline, I gained some insight into. the stressful yet rewarding achievements and experiences that come with being a doctor – let alone one from the emergency medical field. I have also investigated the program activities that she recommended and look forward to participating in a few of them. Listening to the success stories was very inspiring and gives me more incentive to be a part of this enriching field.
By joining this shadowing session, I learned and developed a deeper appreciation for the medical workers and industry. Through learning and analyzing different perspectives -in the first person-from various medical cases, I obtained a brief grasp of the stress as well as pressure that is evident when being in the emergency medical field. We also learned what to do in a medical emergency which included: physical examination, the toolkit, chest pain, structure of chest, signs of stroke, and choking. As COVID-19 is a complicated virus, it has made the medical industry acutely aware of the solutions and cautions the population could take to prevent being exposed to this damaging and infectious disease. The pandemic has hugely impacted the medical profession so, through this seminar, I learned the reasons of why COVID-19 is dangerous, and the precautions I can take to protect myself.
I really enjoyed this shadowing session. I will investigate the different opportunities that arise from being part of the Pre-Health Shadowingcommunityand hopefully take part in more shadowing opportunities in the future.
