A national storytelling initiative honoring healthcare professionals from the COVID-19 era — now entering Phase 2 with year-long outreach, education, and community impact. Join us to build partnerships, events, and campaigns that bring these voices to classrooms and communities.
Heroes Behind the Mask is a book created under Pre-Health Shadowing (PHS) to capture the untold narratives of healthcare professionals who served during the COVID-19 pandemic. The project features real stories from doctors, nurses, public health experts, and educators — exploring the intersection of healthcare, humanity, and systemic inequity.
Co-authored by Ramsha Essa (business student & software engineer) and Mirza Baig (medical student entering residency), and coordinated by Alina Azmat, the book highlights 30 professionals — many of whom have spoken at PHS virtual sessions.
