June is Volunteer Appreciation Month at Pre-Health Shadowing!
As a student-led nonprofit, volunteers are the beating heart of Pre-Health Shadowing. This organization would be nothing without the support of many dedicated volunteers who choose to spend their time helping other pre-health students. We are so grateful for all of our volunteers, past and present, that have contributed to making our organization into what it is today.
That’s why we want to take the month of June to celebrate the amazing individuals who volunteer at PHS. Here’s what we’re doing to say thank you!
Volunteer Competitions
You could earn PHS swag and the opportunity to speak 1-on-1 with a PHS healthcare professional just by volunteering to complete professional outreach this month! Here’s how to participate:
15 emails = 1 hour of volunteering
75 emails = PHS swag
150 emails = deluxe PHS swag package
Winners may be eligible to meet for a 1-on-1 with a professional of PHS.
All emails must be valid in order to be counted for the competition.

Create a moving and impactful piece of writing relevant to PHS for the opportunity to win PHS swag and the opportunity to speak with a PHS professional 1-on-1.
The submission can be:
- A reflection piece (How has PHS impacted you?)
- An interview of a PHS volunteer or team member
- Email [email protected] to be connected
- An academic piece
- Including studies/research relevant to PHS and virtual shadowing and/or diversifying healthcare
To enter, submit your writing piece here. Please note that you must click on the icons on this page to be routed to the submission form. Please read over the submission rubric to ensure that your writing piece fits our criteria.
We will be accepting submissions for this competition until June 30th and voting will take place from July 1st – July 8th; the winners will be announced on July 11th. Voting will take place HERE. Writing pieces will be voted on by the public, so be sure to share your submission with your peers! All volunteers who submit a piece must also vote for a submission, but they cannot vote for their own submission.
We will be offering prizes to the individuals who:
- Raise the most money for PHS through the month of June
- Have the largest number of contributors to their fundraising
- Have the donor who makes the largest single donation to their campaign
Winners will receive a deluxe PHS swag package. Additionally, winners of this competition will be highly considered for a position on the PHS finance leadership team!
Volunteer Competition Raffle
Every volunteer who participates in ANY of the competitions above will have their name entered into a raffle. 10 winners will be randomly selected to receive a PHS swag deluxe prize package!
