About Pre-Health Shadowing

Pre-Health Shadowing (PHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit redefining how students explore healthcare careers. We connect learners from around the world with free, virtual shadowing sessions and mentorship opportunities—removing barriers like geography, finances, and limited professional networks.

  • Access for All – Programs designed to be inclusive, flexible, and fully remote so every student can participate.
  • Global Collaboration – A diverse, mission-driven team working across time zones to create lasting impact.
  • Student-Centered Growth – Focused on equity, mentorship, and skill-building that prepares students for their future in healthcare.

Role Snapshot

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by students and staff (login errors, platform bugs, access issues)
  • Manage and maintain internal tools and software integrations to ensure seamless backend performance
  • Develop "Self-Service" resources, such as FAQs and troubleshooting guides, to empower users to solve common issues
  • Monitor system health to identify and fix technical friction points before they impact the user experience
  • Onboard new volunteers by setting up permissions, emails, and necessary software access
  • Collaborate with Web Design to ensure the site’s technical functionality matches its visual intent
  • Review and test new tools or updates to ensure they are stable before full deployment

What You Bring

  • Strong technical aptitude and a natural talent for diagnosing digital "pain points"
  • Experience with administrative backends or support ticketing systems
  • A "User-First" mindset, translating complex technical jargon into simple, actionable steps
  • High attention to detail, especially when managing permissions and security settings
  • Patience and empathy when assisting users who may not be tech-savvy
  • Strong communication skills to keep the team updated on system statuses or known bugs

You’ll Thrive Here If You…

  • Think about how systems work under the hood, not just how they look on the surface
  • Enjoy deconstructing complex problems into simple, step-by-step solutions
  • Get a thrill from "fixing it" and making a user's day easier through technology
  • Notice a recurring bug and immediately want to automate a permanent fix
  • Are both analytical and approachable in your support style
  • Take pride in being the "go-to" person for keeping the digital engine running
  • Care about building a stable environment where technology helps people instead of getting in their way
