Kaplan Scholarship
General Information & Winner

The Kaplan scholarship is an award given to any pre-health student that is interested in enrolling themselves in Kaplan’s educational courses. The total award amount of $2,499 was given to one student who has met the criteria for the application. The application began with following PHS on its Instagram account (@prehealthshadowing) and liking the Kaplan scholarship post. The next step includes tagging three friends of your choice and @prehealthshadowing. The final step consists of creating a 2–3-minute video or 300-word essay, with all details on the PHS website.
Pre-Health Shadowing (PHS) is a student-led non-profit organization created to connect students to healthcare professionals, valuable shadowing sessions, and other pre-health resources. Not only can one begin to develop connections with others who work in healthcare, but live sessions are available to watch for credit towards shadowing hours. Even if you have a busy schedule, live sessions are available to watch and get credit for at any time online. When applying to different programs, such as programs associated with medical school, admissions committees generally seek well-experienced students. Another qualification many people look for in pre-med students is leadership skills. Pre-Health Shadowing also offers leadership and volunteer opportunities. All of the applications and in-depth details are found on the Pre-Health Shadowing website.
The winner of the Kaplan Scholarship award is Lakshmi Srikari Ravulaparthi! PHS leaders and volunteers congratulate her on her great effort towards her application and her deep interest in healthcare. For her application, she decided to write a short essay on her consideration for osteopathic medicine and pediatric care. Currently, Lakshmi is attending Nova Southeastern University and on her journey towards a medical degree. The Kaplan Scholarship allows her to study for upcoming MCAT exams and feel more prepared when she goes off to medical school.
Kaplan is an incredibly useful program, as it allows students to prepare themselves in an extremely competitive environment. Kaplan is not limited to just medical school-related content; individuals can use the program as a learning tool for high school exams such as the SAT and ACT, as well as AP and GED education. Kaplan is partnered with Purdue University, meaning people can sign up and earn a degree in an online setting. Kaplan offers over 180 different degree programs, all details are found on their website: www.kaplan.com. If you are someone interested in learning a new language, then Kaplan is the place for you. Language courses are offered in English, German, French, and Spanish.
Kaplan is a for-profit organization that does cost money to use. This is why the scholarship was created from the start, to help students who want to be a part of their courses. If you would like to use the program, then I highly recommend still visiting the site and signing up with your email for a student discount. The best way to prepare for important tests is to study ahead of time, instead of cramming for a month or less. Programs such as Kaplan are designed to keep you motivated when preparing for exams and help you to perform to the best of your abilities
