About the Speaker
Ellen Wood, DO, FACOOG is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in the subspecialty of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Wood is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and a distinguished fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a Voluntary Assistant Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine and Florida International University School of Medicine. She has served as a Clinical Board Examiner for the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 2011. She also holds a Preceptor role at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, NOVA Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Eastern Virginia School of Medicine, in addition to being the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Site Director for the OBGYN Residency Program at Mount Sinai Hospital. Before joining IVFMD, Dr. Wood served as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and as the director of Academic Services at MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA. Her major research interests include in vitro fertilization, congenital uterine anomalies, and advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgical techniques. She has published numerous articles, co-authored multiple book chapters, and has presented her research at both national and international meetings. Dr. Wood is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and completed her medical training and residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She graduated with distinction from her clinical and research fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility from The Pennsylvania Hospital and Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and received the Philadelphia Area Reproductive Endocrine Society Fellow Research Award in both 1998 and 1999. Dr. Wood is a mother of two daughters. Her oldest daughter, Tori, graduated from Boston University in September 2020 and currently is in a Master’s of Medical Science Program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). Tori was just accepted last week to PCOM for medical school Class of 2025. Her youngest daughter, Gracie, is a Senior at Boston University and Gracie has been accepted early to the Class of 2026 Boston University School of Dental Medicine. She has completed eight full marathons, including the Boston Marathon in April 2013 and April 2014 and September 2020 virtually. She has also completed over 27 half marathons. She also enjoys water sports and is an avid water skier and wake boarder.
