About the Speaker
Dr. Jacqueline Becker, PhD, is a clinical neuropsychologist, Assistant Professor of Medicine, and health services researcher in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her PhD at Fordham University, residency at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital, and a clinical neuropsychology fellowship in Neurology at Northwell Health.
Her research centers on cognition in chronic medical conditions, with a major focus on Long COVID and other infection‑associated chronic illnesses. She is internationally recognized for her work on the cognitive effects of Long COVID and has delivered invited lectures nationally and abroad, including for the Norwegian Neuropsychological Society.
Dr. Becker is MPI of NIH’s RECOVER‑Neuro, a multisite randomized controlled trial (RCT) targeting cognitive dysfunction after COVID‑19. She is also PI of an NIH/NIMH RCT addressing cognitive impairment in Long COVID with comorbid depression, and PI of an Alzheimer’s Association/National Academy of Neuropsychology study examining COVID‑19’s neuropsychological impact on underserved older adults.
She serves as co‑investigator on multiple Long COVID initiatives, including an AHRQ‑funded project integrating primary and Long COVID care to improve outcomes for minoritized adults in New York City.
Dr. Becker has been an expert panelist and keynote speaker for SAMHSA’s Policy to Action–Long COVID meetings for three consecutive years and a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s committee on the long‑term health effects of COVID‑19 and implications for the Social Security Administration. She also chairs the NIH/NINDS Cognitive Assessments CDE ME/CFS Working Group and co‑chairs the International Neuropsychological Society’s NeuroCOVID special interest group.
