About the Speaker

Joseph Alzagatiti, PhD is the Co-Founder and CEO of EndoFold, an AI-driven biotechnology startup pioneering modular, protein-based systems for next-generation therapies. He earned his PhD in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from University of California, Santa Barbara in 2025.

Joseph founded EndoFold after winning first place at EVOLVED 2024, a global hackathon hosted by Lux Capital that highlights emerging talent at the intersection of software engineering and therapeutic design. His work bridges neurobiology, molecular biology, and bioengineering, with research focused on the neurobiology of learning and memory, neural circuits, and translational therapeutics.

His published research includes studies on neural plasticity and habituation in zebrafish models, contributing to the broader understanding of learning and memory mechanisms.

In addition to his research and entrepreneurial work, Joseph has designed and taught project-based courses in neuroscience and bioengineering at both UCLA and UC Santa Barbara, mentoring students in translating complex scientific concepts into innovative, applied projects.

After the presentation, return to this course to take the post-lecture quiz. The quiz will consist of information that was presented during the session and should not be difficult if you watched the presentation. Once you finish and pass the quiz, mark the course as complete. Your certificate will be available for download as a PDF file upon completion.
