About the Speaker

Jessica D. Carter is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Harding University College of Pharmacy, where she maintains a clinical practice site at a family medicine clinic primarily serving patients with diabetes. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University in 2016 and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Harding University College of Pharmacy in 2020. Following graduation, Dr. Carter completed a postgraduate residency at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas. Before joining the Harding faculty in 2024, she worked as an ambulatory care anticoagulation specialist in a pharmacist-led anticoagulation clinic.

Dr. Carter is passionate about person-centered care and enjoys helping students connect pharmacotherapy with the human experience of health and illness. She teaches clinical topics including diabetes, women’s health, and anticoagulation, and she coordinates the patient counseling course for first-year pharmacy students. Her guiding motto for the course is “Behind every prescription is a person,” inspired by Romans 12:10.

In addition to her teaching and clinical responsibilities, Dr. Carter serves as Director of the Pre-Pharmacy Summer Internship at Harding University College of Pharmacy. This immersive eight-week program provides undergraduate students interested in pharmacy with exposure to a variety of patient-care settings, free on-campus housing, competitive compensation, and mentorship from Harding faculty. A key goal of the program is to help students discover the many diverse opportunities the field of pharmacy offers.

How to get your Participation Certificate

After the presentation, return to this course to take the post-lecture quiz. The quiz will consist of information that was presented during the session and should not be difficult if you watched the presentation. Once you finish and pass the quiz, mark the course as complete. Your certificate will be available for download as a PDF file upon completion.
